David Guetta was voted No. 1 in DJ Mag's 2026 Top 100 DJs. The publication reports participation from 234 territories, with South Africa, Algeria and Morocco among the leading sources of votes from Africa.

The poll is a measure of public popularity. It does not use a jury to decide innovation, production quality or historical significance, and its methodology is different from editorial year-end selections published by music magazines.

The question for DOGON is how different African artists and communities can gain attention without reducing artistic achievement to one metric. Criticism of a polling system requires evidence, and this analysis does not allege wrongdoing by the organiser or its voters.
